Murum is a city and a municipal council in Osmanabad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.Maharastra is one of the most famous states because it has other famous cities such as Mumbai.

As of 2001 India census[2], Murum had a population of 17,232. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Murum has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%, and female literacy is 53%. In Murum, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

In this town mainly two languages are spoken Marathi & Kannada. Town has two big colleges, Schools and a main market place, the villagers from neighbouring places comes to Murum for shopping and hospitals. The main occupation of people is farming and business related to them. Much of the land is non-irrigated. Also It is an important political and financial centre for the district. Nearby popular places are Akkalkot (50 km),Tuljapur(60 km),Pandharpur (140 km) etc. Murum is 9 km away from National highway nine.

Town has Two colleges, four schools. Shree Madhavrao Patil College is popular in this region. Nutan Primary school and Pratibha niketan Vidyalay are notable among them.

Economy

Town has Sugar factory named Vitthal Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana which provide employment to people. There is good market for agricultural products.
